Malcolm Magovern is a very patriotic young man from Richmond, VA.  Over the last several months, Malcolm has taken on Supplied to Survive (STS) as a project.  In that short period of time, Malcolm has raised over $3,000 from email and letter writing campaigns.  Malcolm has done this on his own accord, not for a class or grade, but to show his concern for our troops.  Many Thanks to Malcolm, a very mature 16 year old.

In the task of tracking down some items for the troops, I ran across Ken Frank, owner of Kerif Night Vision in Las Vegas.  We had a great initial conversation about our efforts and I ended up ordering over $1,000 worth of beacons and batteries.  He sold the items (and continues to do so today) at greatly discounted prices to Supplied to Survive.  When it came time for me to give him payment information, he simply said, "pay me when you can".  Ken did not know me from Adam.  Today, Ken's son Christian, along with classmates at Doris French Elementary School in Las Vegas send letters and packages with candy kisses, toys and stuffed animals to Marines in Iraq to pass onto Iraqi children.  Thanks to Ken and Christian!!

As some of you may know, many United States Post Offices around the country are collecting donated ATT calling cards purchased by customers of the post office and in-turn send the cards to deployed troops through different local organizations.  As you may expect, Supplied to Survive volunteers are daily customers of the post office and when able, purchase phone cards from the post office to send to troops.  The local post office in Friendswood, Texas has past on $380 worth of phone cards for our troops.  Thanks to the people of Friendswood, Texas!!

While on a trip to purchase supplies, I visited a Lowe's Store in Pearland, Texas.  I asked for the manager to see if we may get a discount on items we needed.  After explaining our mission, Frank Harris, manager of the store took me on a shopping spree and sent me out the door with hundreds of dollars worth of donated items for the troops.  He also directed me to other Lowe's stores where I got the same great response.  Thanks to Frank and Lowe's!!

After visiting the Lowe's store in Clear Lake, Texas, they told me to go by the Home Depot stores in the area and share with them Lowe's donations.  Home Depot stepped up and participated as had Lowe's.  Thanks Home Depot!!
